Somaek is a form of a compound word that takes only the first syllables of two words – soju (Korean distilled alcohol) + maekju (Korean word for ‘beer’). Somaek is loved widely in Korea by those who want something lighter than soju, but stronger than beer. This particular glass has a toad, which is the classic mascot of the brand HITE Jinro, holding a bottle of a classic soju in one hand and a bottle of ‘Terra’ (one of their latest beers) in the other.
